SIMON OSBORNE | CROPPING FARMER

The farm is 280ha intensive arable, producing grains and legumes for human consumption and seeds near Leeston in Canterbury. His focus is on soil ecology and ecosystem function, gaining an understanding of how soil systems work and enhancing that biological function to grow healthy crops and thus reduce or eliminate synthetic inputs over time. The farm has been in his family since 1863

“For me regenerative farming is a set of basic principles around a culture of embracing life in the soil rather than a culture of death. We are not hell bent on controlling and killing everything, we’ve moved into managing soil in a way that creates multiple agricultural ecosystems.” Simon Osborne
